Teaching

Alex MacLaren is Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University and Studio Leader at the University of Edinburgh. She examines for the ARB and is an External Examiner at the University of Greenwich. Rachel Sandbrook was joint Technical Studies Co-ordinator for the Architecture Degree at Central St Martins College of Art in London 2010-2013.

Alex’s principal research interest is Architectural Pedagogy. She has presented peer-reviewed papers at several conferences accross architecture and construction disciplines. She has participated in Pedagogic Research projects at Brighton University and with the RIBA and University of Belfast. She writes and gives papers on the pedagogic value of interdisciplinary education and is published in ‘Architecture Live Projects: Pedagogy into Practice’, Routledge 2014. She is currently investigating the engagement of Industry with post-degree-level vocational education through her work with Teambuild UK.
